AIBA Tournament Teams

AIBA offers multiple teams at each age group. Athletes are placed on the team that best matches their current skill level. As players develop, they may have opportunities to move up to more competitive teams.

Each team practices twice per week for one hour. Practice days depend on team placement, with practices held Monday through Thursday only. All practices take place at Hardwood Palace.

We ask for 15 days’ notice for cancellations. However, subscriptions can be canceled at any time. We understand athletes may pause participation to play other sports and later return.

Hardwood Palace hosts competitive tournaments on most weekends throughout the year. Teams from California, Nevada, and Oregon participate.
Tournaments are divided by skill level:

• D1 – Top / Elite
• D2 – Intermediate
• D3 – Developmental

Most tournaments consist of two games played on the same day.

Tournament schedules are released by Thursday at noon prior to each event and are posted on the Hardwood Palace App.

No. An AAU card is not required. Athletes only need to be registered through the Hardwood Palace system.

AIBA offers a Division 3 team at each age group, so most athletes will be placed on a team. If coaches feel an athlete would benefit from additional development, they may recommend returning to the Hardwood Hoops Youth League.

Competitive basketball does not guarantee equal playing time, unlike Hardwood Hoops Youth League. Coaches will play all athletes, but minutes may vary based on game situations—similar to middle school basketball.

Monthly fees cover:

• Practice time
• Tournament registration fees
• Coach stipends

AIBA is a year-round program with no fixed start or end dates. Hardwood Palace hosts 48–50 tournament weekends per year, and many athletes participate for much of the year based on interest and availability.

Yes! Our goal is to develop athletes who can continue to move up the competitive ladder.

Some top-level Circuit teams travel to national events. However, most teams compete exclusively at Hardwood Palace.

No. We understand that athletes may also choose to participate with school-affiliated programs or other organizations. AIBA allows flexibility so players can continue developing in multiple environments (Including Hardwood Hoops).
